Jan 1st, 2010

Happy New Year. Made some minor changes to the site.

October 30th

Lolthanchwi 1.00 final is available for download now.

July 23rd

Lolthanchwi goes public! 2 months of delay but we've finally made it. We were all sorry to have you waiting but RL issues consumed us and so we
needed more time to get it done in the end.

Lolthanchwi 0.96 public beta is available for download now.

Please give us some feedback for the final version.

June 21st

I'm sorry to say, but we've stalled a little bit. Chet is very busy at the moment. Since he's my key editor, the final works on the conversations are still under
way. Chet has done a great job on AHTDR and the final parts of PORR and
I want his handwriting in Lolthanchwi as well.

So please be patient, it's only a matter of days, maybe weeks.

May 7th

It's done. lolthanchwi has reached beta status. This means all elements are
included and polished and the team takes over to do the final editing and testing.

I'm eager to hear their feedback.

April 29th

I had some days off lately and so I found time to continue Lolthanchwi.
All game elements are included now and I am working on the fine
tuning and polish at the moment. If things go on like this the alpha version
for text editing should be ready soon. I hope SirChet finds time to do the editing soon.

March 8th

Well, it's been quite some time since my last post. Yes, I'm still active and
of course I am still working at Lolthanchwi. We are changing our school
system here and since I am workign with the school adminsitration at the
moment, my days are busy and long.

I've just finished build 0.50 alpha of Lolthanchwi. This means all the areas
are done, all the scirpts are included and more than 80% of the conversations are done.  The game is already polished halfway through
and I hope to get it finished until April.

You will see will playable teaser demo in the near future. So stay tuned ;)

January 4th

Obsidian came up with a 1.22 beta patch around Christmas. Fortunately,
this patch fixes those issues mentioned below. So I'm in good hope, that
the coming patch 1.22 will solve the on_enter cutscene problems of the
latest version of NWN2.

AHTDR has reached Hall of Fame status on new years day. Thank you
everybody, for your support, feedback and nice votes. I will give my best
to give you another exciting and colorful adventure in 2009.

December 15th

Damn, patch 1.21 us breaking the on_enter trigger. This means that
ALL of my modules will break some essential cutscenes and will
become unplayable with SoZ for the moment. At this time I'm not even
sure if you will encounter game-stopping bugs or not.

I hate it when they do this!!!!!

I strongly recommend NOT to install this broken version!!!!

December 6th

"Nikolaus-Day". In Germany Santa Claus is coming today and he will
bring sweets and small presents to the children. My present for you
are two new screenshots from the rubble of Ched Nasad.

November 29th

Almost all areas are done, now, and I've started to work on the storyline,
conversations and scripting. I've decided to delay the next screenshots for
another week because I want to give you pictures you can find in the game.
The new areas are unpolished in this stage and I'm not sure if I will change
the lighting or the area design for the final version.

November 21st

Lolthanchwi is making good progress, again. I've been working on several
areas this week and all of them are almost done - but only almost. So I've
decided to leave out this week's screenshot to give you the final areas
next week. I'm sure you will love them.

November 14th

Area building is almost complete. There are only two areas left and I'm
sure that at least one of them will be done until next week.

This week's picture shows one of the rubble filled hollows at the bottom
of the chasm that once was Ched Nasad.

November 7th

This week was the first week on my new job. We are doing a lot of statistics at the moment and this is quite different to my the usual teaching
and management i did for the last 8 years. Didn't find much time to
work on Lolthanchwi but it will be better soon.

This week's picture shows one of the smoldering ruins down below.

October 31st

This week's picture shows

House Melarn.

October 24th

This week saw me both, busy and ill again. A terrible combination.
it seems I still need time to regain my physical strength after my trip
to the hospital. There was no energy left for Lolthanchwi. We will see
what comes next week.

This week's picture shows

House D'Dgttu

October 17th

Lolthanchwi takes the player back into the Underdark. Fleeing the
surface dwellers he descends deeper and deeper into the unknown
depths until he finally finds the drow metropolis Ched Nasad. What
sounds like the ending point of an adventure is only the beginning.
Ched Nasad was utterly destroyed - nothing is left of its former glory.

But how could this happen? What army was able to conquer a drow metropolis of 100000 drow in a single day?

The player will find answers ...

We will show you some screenshots of some fallen drow houses in
the next couple of weeks. This week's picture shows:

House Aleandrahel

October 11th

The first week of autumn break is over and I had a great time so far.
Last weeks screenshots were all about the svirfneblin dig site you
will find in a later stage of the game. The gnomes found several
interesting places in the rubble of the fallen city Ched Nasad and
so you will have the chance to explore them as subquests.

This weeks pictures show some of those places. You will get more
information about the general setting and Ched Nasad next week.

October 4th

We have autumn break and this means I have time for Lolthanchwi.
Area buildign is making good progress, so I've updated the
screenshot section with some shots. You will see more of them next
week.

September 27th

I'm slowly recovering from a terrible cold that hit me on Monday. My
throat got spore over night and at the morning I was barely able to
swallow anymore. I went to my doctor and he really got alarmed
seeing me in such a state over night. He sent me to hospital for
monitoring and they gave me shots to get me going again. Well,
I'm back home now and feel much better.

Lolthanchwi is slowly taking shape and I've posted the first two pictures
to show you some of my concept art and the "final product."

September 12th

I've been quite busy polishing AHTDR for the final release but still Lolthanchwi is already takign form. I've been able to win Jlf2n, the winner of the Obsidian are design contest with his wonderful recreation of Baldur's Gate for NWN2, to do the areas for me. This means a great addition to the team. His areas are fantastic, realistic and his help gives me the time to concentrate fully on game design and storyboard.

The next entry will give you some insights into the concept art and storyboard.

August 18th

This is the first entry of this project diary. Lolthanchwi was once designed
as a prequel to the NWN series A HUNT THROUGH THE DARK. The
intention was to give the player the opportunity to raise his character to
level 5 - the starting requirement of the AHTD series.

Lolthanchwi was cancelled upon the birth of my second child and later abandoned after the release of NWN2. Now, with the release a new,
remastered version of AHTD for NWN2, Lolthanchwi will finally be turned
into realization.

The new FR novels about the drow came up with many new storyline hooks including Lolth's silence and a incredible civil war amongst the different drow faiths and fractions. Many famous places of FR literature fall or are seriously weakend. Matriarchy - as the foundation of drow society - is shaken and the ruling caste is fighting for survival. This is the perfect background for a new, epic storyline which takes the player to places never seen before.

More to be revealed soon ...
