These scenarios for CIVILIZATION II

were my first attempts to create my

own computer games. It was the year

of 1996 and I was studying history at

the university. My intention was to

create realistic simulations of historical

processes.

I ended up with two scenarios of the

middle ages, a hypothetical scenario of

alien intervention at the climax of the

east-west conflict and a tech-demo

about the implementation of science-

fiction tiles in CIVILIZATION II.

I loved the way Microprose did the

environmental settings this game. It

was fairly easy to alter graphic sets as

well as unit properties, economy,

wonders and terrain. In combination

with the great CIVILIZATION editor

you were literally able to build your

own round-based strategy games.

Too bad that they abandoned this

concept with the sequels

CIVILIZATION III and IV.
